Tel-Nona, as a virtual mound – is a framework of thought where I excavate for artistic archetypes related to cultures around the Mediterranean and beyond.
My current site-specific art project is intervening in the time lines of actual Tells [mounds]; during 2013 – 2014, I will be traveling around the Mediterranean and visiting different archaeological sites.
I will leave a few ceramic shards imprinted with the link to my Internet site- Blog as artwork.
This blog deals mainly with reviving the memory of the Ancient Library of Alexandria.
By leaving a ceramic key to Alexandria in sites around the Mediterranean, I will be drawing a line between ancient cultures and our present day.
I will document the ceramic key at the site, and write about it in the blog. Hopefully, people will pick them up and access the link to my Blog as artwork, and perhaps even share their thoughts.
Possibly one of the ceramic keys will stay unnoticed for a bewildered archaeologist to find 500 years henceforth.
Would he be able to “read” my project of Reviving the Ancient Library of Alexandria?
Would it be considered art, archeology, philosophy, nonsense, something else?
You are welcome to participate by following the blog, by sharing on Facebook, or by finding a ceramic key yourself.
This ongoing art project is probably based on a memory I wrote about here.
