Ancient Alexandria Library-my story, part 2

A note from Haruki Murakami

It was my last week in Kyoto, August 2011.

Sensei recommended me to visit Murin–an’s garden, she told me her older son who is an architect, was in charge of some renovations in the building.

I took it as a personal gift.

After strolling for a few hours, I decided to rest in the air-conditioned International Community House. Electricity is being exceedingly saved in the summer of 2011.

I drink green tea with vanilla ice cream – a perfect blend of cultures. A Japanese woman bowing and practices her English with me.

I fear the heat outside; the library is closed, and so I stroll around and read the notes on the Information Wall.

Then, something trucks me! I cannot believe my eyes; what is this message doing here?!

My heart and head are occupied with Alexandria’s library for years, and I find such a note here in Kyoto?!

  1. I think that it is logical that the great librrar of Alexandria will end up in Kyoto for sale. It won’t take long before all the texts will appear on the Internet…
